Option to Display Total Score as a Percentage (%)
Current Challenge:
In our institution (ECAC), different units have assessments with varying total marks (e.g., some add up to 48 points, others 56, others 102
Currently, the total score displayed in the gradebook is tied to the raw weights of grade items. Adjusting these to always equal 100 is not practical as it varies for each course
This inconsistency makes it difficult to report a standardised score across units and complicates both student communication and compliance reporting.
Proposed Solution:
Provide an option to display the total score as a percentage (normalised to 100%), regardless of the raw total of grade items.
The percentage could simply be calculated automatically by dividing a learner’s achieved score by the total possible score, then converting it into a percentage.
Benefits:
Ensures consistent reporting across all units, regardless of their total mark values.
Supports compliance requirements by standardising how results are presented.
Reduces the need for manual adjustments or external reporting workarounds.
We believe this feature would significantly enhance both the teaching and learning experience while aligning with compliance obligations.
