Setting a start date for your course means that enrolled learners cannot access the course until that date occurs.
After you've turned your course online, we recommend setting a start date for your course in a few weeks to a month from now, instead of making it accessible right away.
For example, if you turn your course online on the 1st June, we recommend setting the start date for the 1st August.

To do this, follow these steps.
Go to Administer Learners > Timeline.
Set a start date for your class.
When a start date is set, un-enrolled learners will see the Course Landing Page like this:
When a learner enrols but the class hasn't started yet, they will see this message on the Course Landing Page:
We also recommend enabling the Course start reminder, so pre-enrolled learners will be reminded when the course starts.
Go to Course Setup> Notifications.
Under Course emails, enable Course start reminder to remind pre-enrolled learners when the course goes live and they can begin progressing through the course activities.
Click Save.
