1. How do I create a course?

Ready to start creating your course? Fantastic!

Log in and click on your profile icon on the top bar and choose Create a course on the dropdown menu.

Choose your institution from the drop-down menu.

Step 3

Type in the Course name of your choice.

If the Course URL is valid (=green tick), click on Create a Course.

  • The course URL cannot be changed once created.
  • The course name can be changed later.
  • If you are an institution administrator, you can also create a course on Institution settings > Courses > Add new course.

Help, I don't see Create a course on the drop-down menu.

a) If you have been given a Course creator role by your Institution administrator, you can head over to Create a course page directly.

or

b) It seems you are logged in with an OpenLearning account that doesn't have a subscription yet. Please visit our Pricing page to start a subscription.

I am on the Create a course page but I don't see the form.

It seems your subscription is not active anymore. Click on the profile icon and choose Manage my subscription to re-subscribe.

Once you have created your course URL, you will be directed to the Setup Wizard inside your course.

The Setup Wizard will guide you through each of the steps to creating a course. Go through the Setup Wizard and click Done next to each item you complete.

The Setup Wizard also directs you to explore our Course Quality Review Criteria and review process. This highlights best practices for course design, and how to design your course in a way that can be listed in our Course Marketplace.

I have just begun my 30 day free trial. I cannot seem to progress through the "Create a Course" page after checking the URL for originality.  Am I not allowed to create a new course until the trial ends?  It's not been indicated anywhere on the pages, so please clarify.

Al Hewetson Hi! You can start to create courses right after you start your trial, so this should not be a problem. Can you provide a screenshot of the issue, please? Also, can you tell me which URL are you trying? I can test it on my end for you.

If you prefer, you can send us an email to support@openlearning.com

      Thanks!

Alenka Prezelj I have the same issue. The design for new beginners is really unclear. Too many info and hundreds of un-useful videos online. It should be much much easier and user friendly. I'm struggling. Headache. unpleasant first experience.

Alenka Prezelj I'm having a very hard time figuring out the things that should be very easy to do. There are tons of videos and documents to read. It takes a month to read and learn them while it should all be "USER FRIENDLY." Never saw anything like this. Too complicated and too much useless data. I always get a headache coming to this website.

Dr. Azin Izadifar Hi, thanks for reaching out via our Chat feature. As explained, you are currently on a trial account which means you have yet to be charged a subscription fee. Once your trial expires and you decide to continue with your subscription, you will then be charged the amount stated on your manage subscription page. Feel free to reach back out if you need further assistance. Thank you.

limjessy Hi, thanks for reaching out. I checked your account and can confirm that you are now part of an institution portal, which should now allow you to create a course using the same steps as you did in your screenshot. Kindly try it again and let us know if you run into any further issues. You can also email us at support@openlearning.com. Thank you.
