6. Issuing a completion certificate

You can enable students to receive a free or paid certificate upon 100% completion of the course. While students enjoy receiving a certificate of course completion, this is entirely optional.

Go to Certification > Settings

Decide whether you would like to set up a free OpenLearning certificate (awarded automatically on 100% progress or when issued manually by the course administrator), or a paid certificate.

FYI: Paid certificates should ideally be used with a free course. Students typically expect that if they have to pay for a certificate, the course should be free.

Go to Certification > Appearance and set up your certificate appearance

Preview your certificate appearance and then Save

  • If you choose the option to award a certificate on completion of the course, what does it look like on the students side of things? Are they prompted to pay for the certificate as soon as they finish the last activity?

    • Darren Scahill Hi, it is under Certification, which is under Administer students.

If it is not there, you might need to enable certification for your course.

You can go to Course setup > Advanced to check. Scroll down to Miscellaneous:
