In short: The request is to allow post-text posts to be edited by the author AFTER posting. Make this an option for creators to choose.

The image shows my immediate reason for this request - the template covers 1) Planning and 2) Implementation. We do NOT want separate posts - it's essential that it's all in the one post. 
The fact that posts for a post-text widget cannot be edited (after posting) by the author makes sense only in assessment situations. Outside of that, creators ought to be able to set the widget to allow authors to edit their post AFTER posting. (Think of an ongoing project situation, where authors revist a post multiple times.)
