iPad uploads

I have created a course.  There is a section where the students upload a picture.  On the iPad when you hit 'post' it just seems to spin.  The actual post can sometimes be seen but it does not register that task as complete.

Hi Philip, can you post the link to your course and the page where this problem occurs?

Philip Hills Thank you for the links. Are the students using the app or browser? If so, which one?

Philip Hills Which browser? Could they try with Chrome?

Alenka Prezelj I am assuming they are using Safari.  I am not sure that they have Chrome on their iPads and I certainly was not expecting that I would need to have them choose a particular browser.  Are you saying that Chrime will work where Safari will not?

Alenka Prezelj Just tried Safari and Chrome.  They both do the same thing.  It does the initial upload, you click next.  When you click 'Post' it just spins.

I can upload via a computer and yesterday I got a picture to upload using the iPad for a student, but the next two students I assisted it would just sit and spin.  My iPad is just showing a spinning circle on the Post button and I have let it go for the past two minutes.

Philip Hills No, no, I'm trying to figure out if it's a browser related issue or something else. It should work in both, the thing is that I'm not able to replicate the issue on a computer, and I don't have an iPAD here right now to test.

Which format is the file you're trying to upload?

Alenka Prezelj The files that the students are uploading would be a photo taken on the ipad.  They have drawn something on paper, take a photo and upload.

I have just tried to do an upload on the computer, of the same size photo I had been using on the iPad.  The initial upload was slower than the iPad then when hitting the 'post' button it posted almost immediately.

Philip Hills Thank you for testing. I'll have to discuss this with our dev team and see how we can help you. I'll be in touch as soon as possible.

Philip Hills Not sure if you were aware of this, but you can set up a gallery for this task in the bottom of the page. I added it for you just to see what I mean. (It can be removed) I noticed some students posted the images several times (even 5 times). Could you check if the posts of students with iPad are there too? My coworker tested with her iPad, she thought she had the same issue (spinning and then nothing), but it turned out that the file was posted after all.

Alenka Prezelj yes, there was a gallery set on one of the other tasks.  Whilst it does seem to say a pic has been posted it does not mark the task as complete, hence the student cannot complete the course.

Philip Hills can you give me the name(s) of the student(s) who are unable to complete the page (and the link)?

Alenka Prezelj THere are quite a number who seem to be having problems  (somehow I ended up with two classes) I just sorted one of the classes by progress and there are 21 students who are sitting on 75%, which would be the task that is not uploading.

I had a parent contact me today very frustrated.  I did calm her somewhat and can understand her frustration.  She did retry after I emailed her and she said that it wouldn't allow her in to the course, it kept saying off-line.  Why would this be?

Alenka Prezelj I also spent time looking over the gallery today and noted that some of the posts that are there multiple times were from me assisting, and the post button just spun around.  Whilst it may have posted it certainly didn't credit the student as having completed the task.
