Announcements should appear in Course Feed
Dear Developer,
I usually inform importing things in the Annoucements. My students said they did not know the information written in the announcement.
Normally students follow all public discussion/comments from Course Feed. They did not read the announcement in the Course Feed.
I think, all communications should be listed in Course Feed, so never miss all information from the lecture including written and commented from the Annoucements page.

There are several types of notifications on the platform. Platform notifications appear in the little bell icon next to user profile picture in the OpenLearning topbar. I would suggest your students to try enabling individual email notifications in their OpenLearning accounts.
That way they won't miss any important announcement in the course(s). Hope it helps.

Impoved notifications behaviour and performance improvements are planned on the OpenLearning product roadmap. We aim to redesign our notifications system so that there are layers of control at class and individual levels and more optimised defaults for different class roles.
