Course content search
We have re-designed how search works on the platform and we have now added the ability to search for course content while accessing a course. The Search tab is now located in the navigation menu.
Use cases
- Learners - locating previous content learned and referencing earlier material in order to complete an activity.
- Course creators - easily finding and linking related content or pages to create visual/learning threads between multiple points of content in courses.
How do I search for course content?
Search for a keyword on a page or a file name to locate a page.
Step 1
Click on Search located on the navigation menu.
Note: the Search tab is visible to all users regardless of their course role.
Step 2
Enter the search keyword in the pop-up and view the result.
Note:
- In addition to page content, the search bar also supports searching for people within the course. However, it is limited to searching for people in your own courses/classes.
- For learners, it only supports searching for people in the class that they are enrolled in. This means that learners are not able to search for a person outside of their enrolled classes.
- For course staff and administrators, it will support searching for people across all the classes in the course.
Can I search for courses using this search?
The course Search does not search for courses.
- To search for courses you are already a member of, please use the Courses tab on the top bar.
- To search for public courses you'd like to enrol in, please visit the Courses Marketplace or your institution's landing page.
