H5P.com (LTI Tool Provider Setup)

To start off your integration with H5P.com, you will first need your own H5P.com account. You can create your own account here

Launching H5P.com as a Tool Provider

Step 1
Go to Institution Settings > Integrations

Step 2
Click on "+ Add LTI tool provider"
Step 3

You will need 3 important details from H5P.com to create the LTI Tool Provider:
- Launch URL
- Consumer Key
- Shared Secret

You can get all the information from H5P.com by clicking on Manage Organization in the top bar

And then on 'Connect LMS'


On this page, you will find all the necessary information. This H5P.com article shows an example of what should be seen at this stage of the integration.

Step 4
Copy the necessary information from H5P into the Tool Provider setup in your Institution Settings. This is:

  • Launch URL
  • Consumer Key
  • Shared Secret


The rest of these options will either populate automatically, or can be left on their defaults:


Step 5

Check "Deep Linking" in the Tool Settings.

This will ensure a tighter integration with the H5P.com tool set.

Save the LTI Tool Provider settings.

Step 6
Now that you have configured the Tool Provider Setup in your Institution Settings, you can go to your required course page and add your custom LTI Widget.

On the course page you wish to add your H5P.com content, click on Edit and select LTI tools in the drop-down menu:


You should then be able to see H5P.com listed as an LTI Tool Provider Widget, as seen below:


Step 7

Once the H5P.com widget has been added to your page, select the "H5P.com Setup" tab:


If you have an existing activity on H5P.com which you would like to use, you can select it here, or use the H5P "Add Content" button to create a new activity.


When you have finished creating or selecting H5P.com content, click the green "Insert" or "Save and Insert" button.



Create a Quiz with H5P.com

Step 1
Click "Add Content" and select the Quiz (Question Set) option to create a new Quiz

Step 2
Add a title to your Quiz

Step 3
Create your questions by first choosing the question type:

 And then simply create your questions by adding the title of your question, the question itself and adding the different answer options:



Step 4
 To add more questions click on the '+ Add Question' button:


Step 5

Ensure that the score is being sent back to OpenLearning:

This will send a score between 0.0 and 1.0 (where 1.0 is 100%) back to OpenLearning. This score can be used to automatically set completion for a learner using the "Completion Settings" tab, where a score threshold can be provided:
