New class for 2021, all pdf's missing

Hello, I've used this site for the last 3 years to run my teacher training course on climate change and have never had any issue when creating a new class. I just made the 2021 class but all the PDF's on my reading list are now gone, the placeholder is still there but you cannot see anything or download the PDF's: https://www.openlearning.com/courses/climate-action/1551190057565/reading_list/?cl=1

Can someone please help as the course will be going live soon. Many thanks, Gráinne

Hi there! Thank you so much for your continued support of OpenLearning.

There was recently a fix released for an issue with our File widget. However, old files still need to be re-uploaded in order to appear fixed. This mostly effected PDF files.

There is good news, though! If you are worried that you have now lost a file that no longer exists on your computer, that's ok! You can still download the file from within the course as it has not been harmed. Then, simply re-upload it to the same widget :)

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Omnaya, thank you so much for your prompt response. Is there any other way as I have 5 modules with well over 50 pdf's affected so it will take a lot of time. Also, it would appear that all my word documents have the same issue, see screenshot attached. If there is any faster fix please let me know as downloading and re-uploading all the pdf's would be very time consuming. Thanks, Gráinne

Gráinne Ryan Hi, we have a bug with document previews at the moment. It's almost fixed (= in final development stages). Once that is released, you will not need to reupload the files. We'll let you know as soon as it is released.

      Apologies for the inconvenience!

Alenka Prezelj oh that's great news!! Do you think it will be fixed by next Monday? We have a training day then for tutors. Many thanks, Gráinne

Gráinne Ryan Hi, I've left a note for the developers asking them when the fix will be released. I'll let you know when I hear back. :)

To ease your mind - in case this doesn't get fixed - what you can do is unhide the download link and hide the preview. This way the file will not show the preview (which I know isn't ideal!) but you'll still be able to download & open the file.

I did this for you on the first file to show you what I mean.

Alenka Prezelj thank you, that's a good option for most of our pdf's except for these 9 that we do not actually want participants to be able to download, they are only allowed to view them online as they are not open source (by the programme manager):

Gráinne Ryan I understand, but there's no way to really prevent them from downloading them.... Hiding the download link makes it more difficult but not impossible... and there's always screenshots. Just a heads-up. :)

Alenka Prezelj ah yes, I do know that, it was just a requirement from management that the download link be hidden for those 9 pdf's.

Gráinne Ryan Hi there, thanks for your patience. This is just to update you that the issue with previewing PDFs have now been resolved.
Let me know if you can test and confirm if it is working on your end. Thank you.

Ronald Silvosa thank you so much! That's fantastic. At a quick glance all pdf and word previews seem to be back working. The only remaining issue is this one ppt preview (example here and screenshot below). I will try to re-upload it now and see if that works, because one other ppt is previewing fine. Thank you so much for quickly resolving this issue, much appreciated.
