Which layouts are affected

This affects layouts that use a combination of half-width quiz widgets and half-width text widgets. In this setup, the text widget presents the question, while the quiz widget allows learners to respond.

However, not all of these layouts are impacted; only those where the half-width text widgets are arranged side-by-side, such as in the following example:

Why this is happening and what has changed during the migration

The OpenLearning page layout has two sections now: Content and Quiz. When a Quiz widget is added to a content section, the section splits into two, creating a new quiz section. This new section is specifically designed to host the quiz widget, ensuring a seamless and organised user experience. For more information, please refer to the article Adding content and resources.

The disordered layout arises because there is no direct alignment between the text widget and the quiz widget. As a result, the layout appears disordered after migration, for example:

What has been changed during the migration - The migration is changing only the quiz widget from half-width to full-width and the text widget will be left unchanged as shown in the screenshot above.

Note that layouts with half-width text widgets not placed side-by-side are unaffected. Here’s how they appear after migration:

How to solve the disordered layout

Fixing the layout after migration can be challenging. If you encounter a disordered layout, we recommend the following steps:

1. Contact the OpenLearning Customer Success team at support@openlearning.com and provide a list of pages affected.
2. OpenLearning team will revert these pages to the old layout, allowing you to adjust the layout by converting all half-width widgets to full-width.
3. Once the layout is corrected, let us know, and we’ll proceed with migrating the pages to the new layout.
