How can I change my name? What's the difference between my profile name and display name?
Along with the email address you register with, OpenLearning also uses two other account or profile identifiers, which are as follows:
Profile name
Is a unique profile identifier that is automatically created upon registration, and will consist of your name and some additional characters to ensure its uniqueness.
E.g. ronaldsilvosa-t9541s
Please note that the profile name cannot be changed once it has been created.
The profile name can also be:
- Used to log in instead of the account email address.
- Used to identify users (helps distinguish users with the same full name).
Lastly, the profile name will show up as part of the link to a user's profile page.
The URL will be in the form of https://www.openlearning.com/u/your_profile_name
Display name
Your display name is the name that is visible in your courses when you comment and make posts.
It is also the name that will appear on your certificate, should you receive one for a course you complete.
How to change my display name
You can change your display name by following the steps below:
Step 1
Click on your profile icon in the top right corner, and then under Profile click on About me.
Step 2
On the next page, click the Edit icon next to your display name.
Step 3
Click on Save
